Shayler and I made this record at Hits & History when he was here in LA during the pandemic, the same week we made Me & My Bimmer. I actually played live drums on the intro, and I believe he made the whole beat from scratch in our session. The subject matter was mostly inspired by me being a bit creatively drained after a week of nonstop sessions and NOT being able to think of a subject haha, hence “I gotta keep it going, work don’t stop even if I’m feeling off” which led me to the main concept of not wanting to talk about what’s wrong when I don’t feel like myself. Like many people my first instinct when things aren’t fine is to pretend like they are, and this song is just me expanding upon that feeling (plus some fun clever bars about what I like to distract myself with when I’m feeling down). At the time that we made the song things were actually going quite well for me, but I still felt off for some reason which I touch on specifically in the intro.
