This track was actually born out of a hook that I wrote for another artist who ultimately passed on it, but I loved too much to throw away. I made a few slight lyrical tweaks and wrote the verse, and voila! It’s mine now. I cut this in my home studio by myself, which is usually where I’m most comfortable and give myself the most time to think of clever bars (“gotta keep my circle small ‘cause I got trust issues/these squares’ll talk that talk and then switch up and diss you”). I tend to keep a safe distance from people because I’ve moved around so much in my life, so from a pretty young age I learned to not get too attached. The song is about burying myself in my work in order to stay emotionally detached, and just kinda embodies my edgy loner vibe.
